Adobe Releases "Critical, Highly Recommended" Premiere Pro 11.1.2 Update

Today we’re releasing an update for Premiere Pro CC 2017. The 11.1.2 update contains important bug fixes as well as performance improvements. It also adds support for the 10 bit formats of the Panasonic GH-5. This is a critical update which is highly recommended for all users. —Adobe

Media Cache Management Update

Besides adding support for the 10-bit Panasonic GH5 formats, the most notable updates include additional Media Cache management. This feature, introduced in CC 2017.1, gave users the option to automatically delete unused or aging Media Cache files. Unfortunately, a bug caused the unintentional deletion of user media. The previous update (11.1.1) fixed the issue by restricting the cache management preference to the Media Cache folder. This update goes a step further by limiting the preference to specific Media Cache files types, e.g. .pek, .ims, .cfa. Those files will be deleted but the folders they are in will remain on the system. The Media Cache preference is now off by default.

Text and Graphics Improvements

Other updates include improvements to graphics and text editing workflows. You can now snap the anchor point to the edges and the center of the selected text layer, as well as "interesting points" on other graphics layers and the sides of the video frame. There's more control for dragging text layers in the Program monitor; hold Shift to constrain movement to vertical or horizontal directions.

Performance and Stability Updates

There is a long list of stability and performance updates, and expanded support for formats and file types. Click the button below to read the full list of updates.
